The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana (“YPII”) is dedicated to providing trainings, resources and best practices to advance youth philanthropy in the state of Indiana. Youth development is key to all programming for youth-serving organizations and is also very important to YPII and our efforts.
The Search Institute, Minneapolis, MN released a framework of 40 Developmental Assets, which identifies a set of skills, experiences, relationships, and behaviors that enable young people to develop into successful and contributing adults. Acknowledging the 40 Developmental Assets with regard to youth development, we see a strong connection with 22 of the 40 Assets when young people are involved with youth philanthropy in their communities.
We have highlighted those specific assets in this handout for your thoughtful review and consideration when planning your programs.
